Tour of Duty-surgery

8/17/09:
 7-10am-ER;
10-12-minor OR;
1-4pm Ex-lap;
4-7pm: Hemorrhoidectomy;
7-9pm-running to ward calls, trying to write progress notes losing patience over nursing students' decades-long hold on patient charts.
930pm-12:30am: pericardiostomy;

8/18/09:
1am-4am: Ex-lap for a S/P colostomy;
4am-->wanted to cry when chief resident said he wanted another ex-lap (BILIARY EXPLORATION which is bound to be forever)  in by 5am and i wondered when we were going to start our daily census, prepare for the 7am endorsement of unknown new pts we haven't seen yet..
4am-didn't cry, but slept until 5am when tin got the new admissions and i typed them in. tin brought some puto and coffee..very nice...utang napud hehe
6-7am-rushing to print census. 7:30-8am: endorsement cancelled, sako si chief hehehe

8am-9am something: excision of sebaceous cyst
1030-1:30pm something:modified radical mastectomy while waiting for the ex-lap of a new patient
-->OB intercepts with an emergency CS--i am able to steal about 30mins for a big lunch--first meal in day that involves rice!!!
2:30-5:30pm: ex lap--and had to clean intestines from feces before sending for histopath
6:30pm---OFF--kapoy na jud..and haven't started paperwork

i am normally lazy at writing, and very unproductive..but the last 40something hours of wakefulness has left my brain on overdrive instead of exhaustion...and it is just too weird an experience to not write about...

but thankful. coz if that biliary exploration went in at 5am--i would have been standing straight for 9 straight hours which is what happened to those who assissted in the procedure today hehehhe
